The Artist.

Born in the Cotswolds, I grew up in the postwar years in West London. In the 70's I trained as a primary school teacher whilst raising three children. After a joyous and rewarding career in education, working mostly in Surrey but latterly in Northern Ireland, I retired to Devon in 2000.

During my time as a teacher I worked in an environment where there was great autonomy in the classroom and I was able to place a strong emphasis on creativity in the curriculum. I had the good fortune to be seconded for a term to the ceramics department of Epsom College of Art. It was here that I learned to throw and developed a passion for working with clay. I ran workshops for teachers, introducing clay work in primary schools in Surrey. I exhibited children's work throughout the country.

Now, in retirement, I continue to work with young children. I have been sponsored by NADFAS to work on art projects in our local primary school in Okehampton, exhibiting their work in the Dartmoor Museum. I also have small groups of children in my studio from time to time.

I participate in Devon Open Studios biannually with my daughter, Hilary Eckleswood. Our next exhibition is in September 2016.
